I can connect via Telnet and IBM 5250 emulation software to run the AS400 programs we use without much problem. My question is more about other connectivity capabilities such as directly connecting to some of the backend IBM databases using ODBC or JDBC as well as uploading text files for data input. ![]() Most everything we do on the Windows side is using IBMs iSeries Windows client software, which as far as I can tell is available only for Windows. Anyone have hints or suggestions or some helpful websites for integrating an OS X client with an AS400 host computer. Granted, his research was for Windows machines (and Im no developer), but there might be a java-based solution here, possibly even open-sourced. That being said, you may want to go for a commercial product, from a support standpoint. If you have windows and parallels I use to use Mochasoft client or the Hummingbird 5250 client. ![]() Ibm Iseries Access Upgrade From MacRumbaI do see an upgrade from MacRumba for 79 which I have so I may try them again. Ive been using tn5250 for basic connectivity and it works fine. Where it fails is not support for file transfers that I can see. Parallels isnt an option currently since the Mac in use is a PPC-based Mac. I can connect fine using it for TCPIP, but under that type of connection the file transfer capability does not work. Plus, it looks like its been 5 years since Celview has been updated. For general connectivity, tn5250 is a much better product IMHO. I used MochaSofts tn5250 and Transmit for FTP (or I did it from terminal in OS X) My Macs were PPC, so I used Chicken of the VNC and then later Microsoft RDC to a machine where I had logins. There were things I could do in Operations Navigator that there was no way to do any where else. WRKSYSACT) I spoke to the Operations Navigator development group (in Rochester I think) some time ago, they were looking at a Java version. Yeah, that is what Im currently doing too, RDC to a Windows box with the associated IBM software installed on it.
